Self care, 5 ideas for self care and how to start, bae’s guide

Bae’s guide to: Implementing Self-Care by Leah Danielle

Hey, bae!

I know it can be exhausting slaying all day being bosses, mothers, daughters, and friends. We play many roles daily. And if I know you, bae, you put your heart and soul into each of your roles. That can be exhausting, which is why it is essential to prioritize your most important asset, you! You are irreplaceable, bae, so make sure you are investing in yourself by practicing self-care.

Surely you have noticed the recent chatter on social media sites about the importance of practicing self-care. It is not just a trend; it’s a new, healthier way for us to live our lives and manage our stresses. Thank goodness for the recent shift in our society, focusing on our well-being! Yet, some of you may be wondering what self-care is and how to include it into your lifestyle. Self-care looks different for everyone, but it consists of one constant: setting aside time for yourself to ensure that you are mentally, physically, and emotionally performing at your best.

You may have seen the typical suggestions for self-care, such as exercising, cooking, and meditating. But if you’re anything like me, bae, these suggestions are too basic. We think outside of the box. We are creative. We need ideas that easily fit into our day, but also don’t seem mundane.

Here’s the 5 creative ways to practice self-care:

1. Do something you’re passionate about! Volunteer locally, learn a new hobby, or take interest in community causes. Showcase your passions by decorating a jean jacket with pins that reflect your beliefs or wear jewelry or use key chains that express your beliefs. Influence others, bae.

2. Write weekly goals or inspiring quotes on post-its. Stick the notes to your computer screen or laptop, phone case, & favorite cup or koozie to remind yourself that you can and you will. Manifest, bae.

3. Style your hair differently by mimicking a new style. Search “how to” videos for inspiration. If you don’t have time to learn the new “do”, express yourself by trying different hair clips in your hair or try a colorful scrunchie. Spice it up, bae.

4. Light a candle, and have a weekly facial night. Research other countries’ skincare routines, and try a new routine to refresh your skin while learning about other cultures. Relax, bae.

5. Write in a gratitude journal daily using fun colored pens to reflect on all of the positives occurring in your life. Have even more fun by decorating the journal with your favorite stickers! Reflect, bae.

Hopefully these suggestions help you think of more creative ideas to practice self-care. I challenge you to schedule time for yourself each week, bae.Embrace your creative side, and have fun expressing yourself!
